Petra and the Wolf, 2016
with Glass Half Full Theatre, Mother Falcon, and Lionheart Youth Theatre

Inspired by Prokofiev’s classic tale, this original work introduces the mischievous, fearless and compassionate Petra.

Against the backdrop of 1970’s Texas, we meet a diverse array of creatures, from the lively chacalaca to the melodious black-bellied whistling duck. Petra's adventures with her animal companions serve as a poignant reminder of what might have been, for within the pantomime play an unspoken truth lingers- the red wolf is now extinct in the region. The granddaughter of the original Peter, Petra faces the same choices, and in a twist of fate, challenges a cycle of vengeance and highlights the profound impact of empathy in the face of adversity.

Toured live in 2017 for over 24,000 students nation-wide, the performance begins with a prelude showcasing the story’s main musical themes.
